Un filo rosso. Un filo rosso che riunisse le tappe più significative del mio percorso musicale, collocandole in una cornice nuova. È quanto mi chiedevano gli amici che da qualche mese avevano organizzato, coordinato e tramato a mia insaputa, dando corpo ad un progetto che doveva costituire un omaggio per il mio compleanno imminente. Guidati dalla regia instancabile di mia moglie Cristina, gli amici musicisti avevano reperito lo studio di registrazione, ingaggiato fotografo e grafico, completato il mosaico degli strumentisti, procurato due arrangiatori che mi alleggerissero il lavoro. Dal canto loro gli amici di tutti i giorni avevano aderito con entusiasmo, contribuendo a finanziare una produzione che quanto a dimensioni si presentava piuttosto onerosa. C’era infine un solista d’eccezione come Flavio Boltro, che andava messo nella condizione di dare il meglio di sé. Superfluo dire che mai sorpresa fu più gradita.

Ma non era impresa facile: negli anni avevo attraversato un’infinità di generi musicali, tanto che alla mano che doveva guidare il filo rosso si offriva una molteplicità di percorsi possibili e praticabili.

A fil rouge. A common thread that brings together the most significant stages of my musical path, placing them in a new frame. I was asked to do this by friends, who a few months ago had started organizing, coordinating and plotting without my knowledge, giving shape to a project that was supposed to be a tribute in view of my upcoming birthday. Guided by the tireless direction of my wife Cristina, my musician friends had found a recording studio, hired a photographer and a graphic artist, completed the mosaic of the instrumentalists, and secured two arrangers that would lighten my work. On another front, everyday friends had enthusiastically joined, helping to finance a production that, on the whole, was going to be rather pricey. There was finally an exceptional soloist like Flavio Boltro, who was put in a position to give his best. Needless to say, the surprise was most appreciated.

However, it was not easily done: over the years, I have been through an infinity of musical genres, so that the hand that had to guide the fil rouge offered a multiplicity of possible and practicable paths.
